About Us
THE STORYTELLER was created by Glenn Shea, who is a Wathaurong/Ngarrindjeri man, at 2am in the morning when he was employed as the Koori youth justice worker at The Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative. A key purpose of the organic idea has been to support Aboriginal adolescent young people who have been in contact with the criminal justice system, and are disengaged from education, training and employment.
The Storyteller is both a powerful concept and a set of interrelated cultural resources with The Storyteller game as a centrepiece. Its use and further development will lead to a stronger, prouder national identity. It will lead to all participants knowing the full value of being Australian. It will lead to reconciliation. It will provide a direct pathway to cultural competency.
This game includes three hundred topics that are generic and non-political about Aboriginal people, society and culture. As an educational resource, participants have access to knowledge through playing the game which opens the door to Australia’s first people.
